Industrial NH3 Refrigerator Operator I

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course training covers the fundamental items and concepts used by the industrial ammonia refrigeration operator in the course of duty; the refrigeration cycle, physical properties of various refrigerants, refrigerant performance tables, compressor types, compressor operation and maintenance, lubrication, cooling units, condensers, high pressure receivers and purging non-condensable gases from the refrigeration system.  Diagrams, tables, study questions, exams and a glossary help the student bring key concepts into focus.  Seminars take place on campus at Garden City's original ammonia program facility located in the Gary Jarmer Technical Annex.

Industrial NH3 Refrigerator Operator II

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course training continues in the theory and operation of the industrial ammonia refrigeration cycle and associated equipment and systems.  The Class introduces liquid feed to an evaporator and the function of vessels and their liquid feeds, direct expansion evaporators, gravity flooded evaporators, pumped liquid recirculation systems, secondary refrigerants, NH3 pressure enthalpy diagrams, two stage systems and defrost systems. Hands on laboratory exercises in variable frequency drives, calibrating ammonia refrigeration sensors, basic electrical troubleshooting, transducer evaluation, ammonia compressor control panel, intercooler desuperheating and refrigerant pumpout assignments help the students in reinforcing their theoretical knowledge of an industrial ammonia refrigeration system.  Seminars take place on campus at Garden City's original ammonia program facility located in the Gary Jarmer Technical Annex.

Industrial NH3 Refrigeration Technician 1 (Operator III)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course training continues in the theory and operation of the industrial ammonia refrigeration cycle and associated refrigeration equipment and systems.  The course training concentrates on the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial ammonia refrigeration equipment.  Students will be participating in hands-on actual tear-downs and repairs and modifications of common ammonia refrigeration equipment. Industrial ammonia refrigeration technicians and mechanics will benefit from the hands-on experience of the Instructors who have a combined industrial experience with ammonia refrigeration systems of over 80 years.  Seminars take place on campus at Garden City's original ammonia program facility located in the Gary Jarmer Technical Annex.

Industrial NH3 Refrigeration PSM/RMP

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This unique course training addresses PSM and RMP plans from a different perspective and is based on iiar materials, OSHA regulation 29CFR1910.119  and EPA 40CFR68 .  Process Safety Management is the proactive identification, evaluation and mitigation or prevention of industrial ammonia refrigeration releases that could occur as a result of failures in the ammonia refrigeration process, procedures or equipment.    While most seminars and training are aimed at what a company must do to get into compliance with these regulations, this course training is intended to aid the ammonia refrigeration operator, supervisor, manager or safety manager in staying in compliance after his or her company program is in place.  Seminars take place on campus at Garden City's original ammonia program facility located in the Gary Jarmer Technical Annex.Garden City's ammonia program is the leading training facility for ammonia. refrigeration.

Advanced Refresher / RETA CIRO Prep

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Garden City Community College is proud to announce the newest in our line of Ammonia Refrigeration Operator Training Seminars. The Refresher/Certification Preparation Course will review topics from RETA Operator books 1 through 3 and will also cover basic ladder logic and controls for ammonia refrigeration systems.
Participants will have the option of sitting for the RETA CIRO Examination on the last day of class  (must meet RETA requirements for testing). The Examination results will be available at the time of testing.
This Seminar is an opportune chance to study for and take the RETA CIRO Examination or to refresh operators on the basic theory and principles of ammonia refrigeration. Class lectures will be re-enforced with hands-on laboratory exercises in our state-of-the-art facility, in keeping with Garden City Community College's traditional emphasis on hands-on training.
Garden City's ammonia training is the leading training facility for ammonia. refrigeration.

Boiler I

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course training covers the fundamental theory and concepts used by the steam plant operator in the course of duty, basic boiler room systems, steam and water accessories, fuel burning equipment, combustion controls, draft systems, boiler water treatment, steam boiler fittings and steam boiler operation are all covered by this training course.  Diagrams, tables, study questions, exams and a glossary help the student bring key concepts into focus.  Seminars take place on campus at Garden City's original ammonia program facility located in the Gary Jarmer Technical Annex. Garden City's ammonia training is the leading training facility for ammonia. refrigeration.
