To
achieve lower temperatures, a two-stage system is often
used. Garden City Community College's System E uses two
Frick compressors in series to lower the temperature in the
walk-in blast freezer to a -40° F. The high volume fans
create a wind speed of 24 mph in the freezer, bringing the
wind chill down to approximately -80° F.
